Kazakhstan to remove Russian from banknotes

Following a degree from the President of Kazakhstan in December 2018, inscriptions in Russian language will disappear from tenge coins and banknotes. Currently, coins and banknotes feature Russian language. But under the new presidential degree, the national currency should be only issued in the state language: Kazakh. The use of foreign languages can be used on collection and investment coins however.

The only legal national language according to the constitution of Kazakhstan is the Kazakh language. Therefor, the Russian language will not be used in state institutions, local governments and national currency.
